- Anbieter: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Irland.

1. Controller
Controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Data protection contact: For any questions about data protection and to exercise your rights, contact us at hallo@jokerstudios.de or by post at the address above. No data protection officer has been appointed because the legal requirements for a mandatory appointment (Art. 37 GDPR, Section 38 German BDSG) are not met.
2. Usage statistics (Google Firebase) – only with your consent
On first launch SONARIS asks whether we may count how many people play and how far they get. Until you agree, nothing is collected and nothing is sent. If you choose "Decline", it stays that way.
If you agree, we use Google Analytics for Firebase.
- Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
- Purpose: to count daily active players, play time and sessions, and to see how far players get (rooms entered, jobs completed, districts lit) so the game can be improved.
- Data: a random identifier generated by the app (app instance ID), device model, operating system and app version, language setting, a country or region derived from the IP address, times and duration of use, and the game events named above. This data is pseudonymous: it is not linked to your name, but it can be attributed to one installation.
- Not collected: name, email, account, location, contacts, the device's advertising ID. Advertising purposes and personalised ads are explicitly switched off.
- Legal basis: your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; for storing and reading information on your device, section 25(1) of the German TDDDG.
- Retention: Google deletes this data after 2 months.
- Transfer to the US: Google may transfer data to Google LLC in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which is covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission.
- Withdrawal: any time, with effect for the future, under Settings → Usage statistics. On Android this also resets the statistics data held on the device.
More information: Google's privacy policy and privacy and security in Firebase.
3. House advertising
SONARIS occasionally shows a card for another game by the same developer. When your device
is online, the app loads the list of cards and their images or videos from GitHub
(raw.githubusercontent.com, GitHub, Inc.) and jsDelivr
(cdn.jsdelivr.net). Those providers necessarily receive your IP address and
ordinary connection data. No advertising ID is used and nothing is shared with ad networks.
Offline, the app shows only content shipped inside it.
Only if you agreed to usage statistics (section 2), the app also reports that a card was actually shown: which card, where in the game and which version of the module. This goes the same way to Google Firebase, with the same retention and the same way to withdraw. It tells us which cards are shown at all.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in pointing to our own games (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). For this the app keeps a copy of the list on the device and how recently a card was shown. Tapping a card deliberately opens your browser or the Play Store, and the privacy terms of that destination apply from then on.
4. Data that stays on your device
- up to three save slots (position, completed jobs, collectibles found),
- your settings (language, volumes, haptics, accessibility options, and your choice about usage statistics),
- play statistics such as distance swum or best times.
This data is not sent to us or to any third party.
5. Permissions
The app requests two permissions: INTERNET, for usage statistics (only after
consent) and for house-advertising content, and VIBRATE, for haptic feedback,
which can be switched off in the settings.
6. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (section 2); the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal remains unaffected. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate (responsible for the controller) or the authority at your place of residence. No automated decision-making, including profiling, takes place. Because the statistics know only a random identifier and no name, we usually cannot identify you in them ourselves – do write to us anyway and we will help. You can delete local data under Settings → Reset progress or by uninstalling the app.
7. Children
SONARIS is suitable from age 6. On first start the game asks for the year of birth. The year stays on the device and is never sent anywhere. Under 16, usage statistics are not offered and stay off. Under 13, the game also shows no house advertising and loads nothing from the internet. Advertising IDs and personalised ads are switched off for every player.
8. Google Play
The app is distributed through Google Play. Google processes data of its own when you download or update the app; that is covered by Google's privacy policy.
9. Changes
If anything about this policy changes, we will update it here and revise the date above.
